Everyone is talking about mental health these days and we hear of projects and organisations popping up everywhere that advertise mental health and wellbeing as their focus.
Some of this is a good thing and delivered with good intention and in mild to moderate situations or issues - produce good outcomes.
From a different perspective- When your child or teen opens up difficult or traumatic feelings or issues on a deeper level- how well equipped or qualified are the people sitting in front of them to hear, listen, assess level of need and respond appropriately and correctly? Is the worker competent and confident in skill, experience and trained to be able to assess risk, not only recognise but respond effectively to trauma and in doing so prevent further harm?....
If in doubt- check them out- on the Professional Standards Authority Register....
