JANUARY BLUES

January can be a difficult month for mental health.

The lights, celebrations, glitter, kindness and warmth of the festive season can feel so far away and for many of us it is hard to get back in to routine, to keep motivated, positive and cheerful- particularly during dark mornings and dreary cold days.

Some ideas

that may help-

Take care of yourself...if you can - give yourself a small treat every day- even a cup of tea or coffee/ watching a funny film on TV; a bubble bath; a good book to read; a massage - a little something to look forward to.

Get some sunlight- or daylight- a lunchtime walk even if only 15-20mins will get the endorphins going( the happy hormones to the brain) and help to lift the spirits;

Get some sleep- aim for 8hrs if you can;

Drink less alcohol and reduce screen time and social media time;

Spend time connecting with people who leave you feeling lifted and who make you smile;

Learn a new craft or hobby- or pick back up on one that you enjoyed before.

Throughout the month of January Mind Mosaic Child and Family Therapies want to offer a helping hand to Inverclyde people and are opening up quiet warm spaces on Mondays and Fridays throughout the month in our rooms in Ladyburn business centre where teenagers, parents, grandparents and carers, neighbours and colleagues who feel a little sad or overwhelmed are welcome to drop in for a hot drink and a warm space for an hour- to take time out for yourself, space for some thinking time in a safe confidential and welcoming environment, free of interruption- if you need it.

If you need to speak to someone about how you feel- we will be there to help with that too

If you require more information - private message- or call us on 01475 339019 or e mail: children@mindmosaic.net
