PLAY THERAPY

ree

In Play Therapy children and young people affected by traumatic life circumstances, post traumatic stress and complex difficulty affecting their mental health and wellbeing, enter the therapy room where there is no expectation that they have the words or the language to even begin to make sense of what has happened to them.

With the support of the university trained qualified Play Therapist the sessions may be non verbal for some time before they eventually gain trust, as they establish the therapeutic relationship, and as they play out their story and repetitive themes in the sand tray, with small figures, drawings, paintings, journals, clay, sensory objects and more....

The Play Therapist who is clinically supervised by an approved BAPT, PTUK, or BACP Supervisor supports the child or teen through the process of therapy and to eventual autonomy, problem solving, and mastery over difficult situations as they move toward a positive outcome.

At Mind Mosaic Child & Family Therapies we often receive communication from young adults who were once the children who received an intensive period of play therapy when they were younger and we are always so happy to hear of how they continued on and built successful happy and healthy lives as mental health and wellbeing continued to improve...Play Therapy is powerful, effective and provides good outcomes
